Know your grind

As coffee lovers, we all have our own preferences when it comes to the type of grind we use for our daily cup of joe. Some swear by whole bean coffee, while others prefer filter ground or espresso ground. But have you ever wondered what the difference is and which one is the best choice for you? At Root of my Land, we understand the importance of a perfectly ground coffee, which is why we freshly roast and grind our coffee for your enjoyment.

Whole Bean Coffee:

Whole bean coffee, as the name suggests, is coffee in its purest form. The coffee beans are roasted and packed without any further processing, which means they still retain their natural oils and flavours. This is why many coffee connoisseurs prefer whole bean coffee as it offers a more complex and flavourful cup. However, to fully enjoy the flavours of whole bean coffee, you need to invest in a good quality coffee grinder. Grinding your coffee just before brewing ensures that the flavours are at their peak, giving you a more satisfying and fresher cup of coffee.

Filter Ground Coffee:

Filter ground coffee is a medium-coarse grind that is perfect for brewing methods such as drip coffee, pour-over, and French press. It is slightly finer than whole bean coffee and is the most commonly used grind for everyday coffee drinkers. The main advantage of using filter ground coffee is that it’s readily available and can be used with various brewing methods. It also offers a good balance between strength and flavour, making it a favourite among coffee lovers.

Espresso Ground Coffee:

Espresso ground coffee is a fine grind that is specifically designed for espresso machines. It is finer than filter ground coffee, which allows for a quicker extraction of flavours. This results in a strong, concentrated shot of espresso that is perfect for making lattes, cappuccinos, and other espresso-based drinks. However, it’s worth noting that espresso ground coffee can only be used with espresso machines, so it may not be the best choice for someone who doesn’t own one.
